Websites in a World Filled with Social Networking

In my last Newsletter, I mentioned I have been introduced to tons of Social Networking sites lately. This keeps expanding and so I have put up a page on our site that I will keep updating as new ones come to me. This page includes Social Networking sites, Blog sites and places where you can post up information about your project or business on sites and blogs and I now have 125 links to share!
List of 125 Online Social Networking and Business Resources

One very interesting point I have been noticing in getting more grooved into the Social Networking sites, mainly Twitter, Facebook, and WordPress.net blog is that users often simply use these "mini-site pages" themselves as their only website …. So, the blog site IS their only site, for example.

Well….unfortunately although it is clever on one hand, and cost free, I have also discovered that 13 of these blog and social networking sites no longer exist over the last 6 months(!!) and the 125 on my list still do! That’s about a 10% chance that these interactive sites may not be depended upon fully to house your contacts, content and information about your company. Legal battles and security issues can easily threaten large member accessible sites. Advertising driven sites such as these may also suffer from current economic set-backs.

Having your own website up that has a content manager so you can post all information that you also post up on these Social Networking and blog sites is an action I would recommend as vital. Having your own site that you own fully and control, in essence, protects you, your content, and all that work that has gone into building up a strong Social Networking following.

I also noticed that many users are lacking any brand identification. Some have invested in branding development and the difference in strength of message and trustability are obvious. But even late in the game, (after one has gotten a large following on Twitter for example) getting such in place can still be done and can still increase effectiveness of the existing marketing. And by having ones own site, one could also capture more information needed from possible clients to interact with them and assist them in business. Ones own site cleverly done can also be used as a business system to take advantage of all the interest being created!

I am excited about the opportunities that abound with all these interactive mini-sites. With links back to ones’ own main website coupled with strong company or personal branding and design allows one to then place ones own design elements into these networking sites easily. One could inspire quite a bit of online networking and launch new products easily to hundreds of thousands of people at no further cost utilizing the web, and done correctly can build your business quickly.

So, I repeat from a different perspective, that the reverse applies as well….one could loose all work and all promotional momentum if not set up correctly on the web with good surveys of public, excellent branding and design and all offered information and content in ones own domain. Confidence and thus potential income can be easily lost with no back-up company information or system to make interaction and sign-ups seemless which instead could likely be "income made" by having ones own business/personal website and branding.

Endless Graphics is creating partnerships with some social networking teams who can help do Internet PR in this way. Feel free to contact me if you would like some assistance to utilize these resources!
